Malaysians either forget or choose to forget or led to forget by unscrupulous leaders or are just plain ignorant!
I am referring to the wealth that Malaysia was given that is now taken for granted: oil and gas.
Mahathir once retorted, his biggest fear is a man who goes by the name of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. Why?
Mahathir went on to explain: When Our Father of Independence Tunku Abdul Rahman managed to persuade the British to give Persekutuan Tanah Melayu (PTM-Malaya) independence, Tunku also asked the British to give PTM-Malaya, the oil and the gas that was given to the major oil companies before, for as long as there are the moon and the stars.
The British had to say no to Tunku's request as the oil and the gas no longer belong to the British but already owned by the oil companies. Tunku had to concede defeat on that.
Then came along Tengku Razaleigh who proposed the idea of getting oil for UMNO in order for the party to be self reliant and not depend on contributions from others. This idea was not agreed by Tun Razak who told Tengku Razaleigh, UMNO is best kept away from business. Tengku Razaleigh obeyed.
However, Tengku Razaleigh still felt that the oil and the gas rightfully should belong to Malaysia, that by then has been merged to be Malaysia even though Tunku had failed to do so.
Tengku Razaleigh went on to embark on a mission to get this oil and gas back. In all honesty, all the oil and gas could have been his if he were to succeed to get it back because of his own initiative and hard work, not otherwise: Not even Malaysia.
However, his nationalistic fervour prompted him to fight to get back the oil and gas for Malaysia and not for himself, to ensure Malaysia will survive any financial onslaught in the future instead of just relying on tin and rubber that are controlled in trade by others. He wanted Malaysia to be financially independent for her future generations.
Once his objective is set, he went full steam ahead with assistance and help from friends to get the oil and gas back. Notable friends were Abdul Rahman Ya'kub, Chief Minister of Sarawak, Manan Othman and more.
When he succeeded in "raiding" and getting the oil and gas, he sincerely and honestly gave every drop of oil and every volume of gas to the people of Malaysia through a company he formed called Petronas and went about to legitimise it through the Petroleum Development Act 1974.
Now, that, all my fellow Malaysians, is why Mahathir considers Tengku Razaleigh as his biggest threat. Tengku Razaleigh is a more superior being than Mahathir. Wonder what else?
Therefore my fellow Malaysians, please spare a second and remember, Malaysia may have been bankrupt had it not been for Tengku Razaleigh, with the Grace of God, by getting the oil and the gas for PETRONAS. It is worth trillions of Ringgit, more than any foreign investment or income that anybody can bring for all of us Malaysians.
Sadly because of evil intents of unscrupulous forces, this legacy and great deed of Tengku Razaleigh has been subdued and even tried to be wiped out of our history. What a devilish act!
Besides oil and gas, Tengku Razaleigh also got back for Malaysia other assets for Malaysia that others have shamelessly claimed to be their work. Shameless idiots!
Time Malaysia and Malaysians accord Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah the rightful honour as this man never seek glorification for the deeds he had done for Malaysia and for all of us Malaysians. He even refused to accept the Tunship twice and never stole a single cent from the country.
Long Live Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. We Love You.
