Selinsing Rubber Estate was originated in the 1880's. Located some 12 miles from Taiping, the former capital town of Perak state. In 1877 the first rubber tree was planted in Kuala Kangsar. That was history.
Subsequently, rubber cultivation expanded throughout Malaya over the next 10 years. A lot of rubber plantations were formed and established in the Taiping area.
That's how the Selinsing Rubber Estate came to existence. At those time, a formal rubber tapping system was not implemented. Bamboo poles were lodged beside trees. The tappers climbed the bamboo stairs and tapped trees.
The Ceylon Planters website says that the photograph shown in this aticle as of a Sri Lankan photograph. By right the photograph was taken at the Perak Selinsing Rubber Estate in 1880's.
At one time it was the British rubber plantation owners at Sri Lanka as well bought the rubber plantations in Malaya. The pictures taken in Malaya are generally sourced as pictures taken in Sri Lanka. We must come to a determined conclusion only after thoroughly examining the base condition of the image characters and the environmental situation of the picture.
Tamils migrated to those places in Taiping vicinity about some 140 years ago. They cut down dense forests and cut canals and paved roads. And in one picture you can see them boarding a boat to work.
A question? Can you refer those people who had sacrificed their lives in such harsh tormenting conditions and extreme inhuman environments as Pendatang. Certain group of people are enjoying life in a comfort zone on the structures those people have set up. That is a different story. But forgetting gratitude and behaving ungratefully is totally a perversive story. Isn't it. This is my personal opinion, which other people might not agree with.
